You should be holding a registration document which contains the information to identify you as an individual and our practice to the EMIS site ─ EMIS is the computer software that our practice uses to hold your notes and arrange appointments at the desk, it is used by about 60% UK practices. The next stage is to login to Patient.co.uk.
- the registration option and enter your details as contained on the letter you hold
- a password according to the instructions on screen
You are able to use EMIS ACCESS straight away.
Patient Access (please add link Anthony) is a secure website that allows you to book appointments and order repeat medication online. In order to do this you need to visit the Practice in person and speak to the receptionist. If you only require online access to book appointments and order repeat medication the receptionist should be able to print off your login details immediately, however, at busy time, you may be required to leave your request with the receptionists and this will be posted out to you.
From the 31st March 2016, this service now allows you to view the coded information in your medical records, such as problems/diagnoses, results, immunisations, and medication. As this allows access to your personal data, you will not just be given login details immediately. You will need to apply to register for this service, and you will need to provide photographic evidence of your identity (i.e. student ID card, passport, drivers licence). Please ask reception for a patient information leaflet should you require further information.
In both cases your login details will be provided on an A4 registration document which contains the information to identify you (please note that you will be required to provide your photographic ID when you collect your login details also). Once you log in to Patient Access you will be able to use it immediately.
This service is only available to patients registered with this Practice.
This system does not allow you or anyone to see or alter your medical record. However, should you pass on your login details to anybody else, they will have access to some very personal information about you. You are responsible for any information that you download, print or share with others, and if you think that somebody else might have gained access to your login details, please inform the practice immediately and we will disable this function. Please keep your login details safe – our staff will never ask you for it.
All doctors are accessible through this service but you can only book a 10-minute slot and so this system cannot be used to book appointments for the following.
- Lots/complicated problems
- Coil fitting or check
- Childcare checks
- Ante-natal or post-natal
- Liquid nitrogen/freezing
- Private medicals
- Forms requiring completion
Appointments can be cancelled, even if they have not been made on-line.
You can inform us of address or telephone information. Please note mobile phones are increasingly used to contact patients and although we have a policy of not identifying the target by name messages may be left. Please ensure that your mobile number is updated as soon as it changes.
Repeat prescription requests
These are only possible when:
- medication already exists on our system (ie issued at least once from UNHS)
- a review is not due
- the medication has not been requested too recently
Repeats by this system allow you to collect the paper prescription from our desk 48 (working) hours after the internet request. When distant from the practice (holidays) prescriptions can only be sent if we have a self-addressed STAMPED envelope.
