We value the relationship between patient and practitioner (whether they be a doctor or nurse, male or female). However, we recognise that at times patients can feel more at ease with another individual in the room, particularly if the practitioner is of the opposite sex. We find this is more necessary for intimate examinations. If an intimate examination is felt to be necessary and you would be more comfortable, feel free to ask for a chaperone. We will endeavour to provide one and continue your care. However, in some circumstances this is not possible and another appointment where a chaperone would be available will have to be made (or an appointment with an alternative practitioner, where you feel there is no need for a chaperone
