The next stage is to login to Patient.co.uk.

  • a password according to the instructions on screen

You are able to use EMIS ACCESS straight away.

Not registered

To register with this service you need a password and username. This can only be issued by attending the health centre in person. We may be able to give you your security codes immediately but at busy times we will post these to you.

Security

This system does not currently allow you or anyone to see or alter your medical record. However, they could order or cancel medication and could alter appointments. This may seem harmless fun to them but could cause the practice or you inconvenience or worse. Please keep your login details safe and never share password information – our staff will never ask you it.

Appointments

All doctors are accessible through this service but you can only book a 10-minute slot and so this system cannot be used to book appointments for the following.

  • Lots/complicated problems
  • Coil fitting or check
  • Childcare checks
  • Ante-natal or post-natal
  • Operations
  • Liquid nitrogen/freezing
  • Private medicals
  • Forms requiring completion

Cancellations

Appointments can be cancelled, even if they have not been made on-line.

Address changes

You can inform us of address or telephone information. Please note mobile phones are increasingly used to contact patients and although we have a policy of not identifying the target by name messages may be left. Please ensure that your mobile number is updated as soon as it changes.

Secure message service

This is a very new area for the practice and so is only offered with limited functionality and tight restrictions. Only send a message when you have already seen the doctor to whom it is addressed.

In general messages should be about clinical areas that you have reviewed with your doctor recently, eg dosage of a drug started recently. A response cannot always be guaranteed as Dr’s are sometimes away. Your message will be screened by the emergency doctor, to ensure it did not need urgent attention. If there is a chance it could need urgent attention, please phone the practice for advice instead.

Messaging is not appropriate for anything to do with mood disturbance or mental health issues.

Repeat prescription requests

These are only possible when:

  • medication already exists on our system (ie issued at least once from UNHS)
  • a review is not due
  • the medication has not been requested too recently

Repeats by this system allow you to collect the paper prescription from our desk 48 (working) hours after the internet request. When distant from the practice (holidays) prescriptions can only be sent if we have a self-addressed STAMPED envelope.
