Health and Wellbeing Team

Mental Health Practitioner

  • Provides same day support to individuals struggling with mental ill health
  • Provides information on coping strategies and encourages self-management where possible
  • Signposts to relevant support services and explains how these services might be helpful

Occupational Therapist

  • Provide support for individuals whose ability to function in day to day activities (occupations) is disrupted by physical or mental illness
  • Supports engagement in activities (occupations), roles and routines
  • Encourages self-management of mental and physical health through promoting the use of meaningful occupations

Occupational Therapist

Occupational Therapists (OT’s) provide support for individuals whose ability to function in day to day activities (occupations) is disrupted by physical or mental illness. OT’s help identify obstacles or barriers that prevent a person living their life to the full. They will work collaboratively to promote practical solutions or adaptations that can make someone’s life more meaningful.

This support can be provided 1-1 or through group sessions and encourages self-management wherever possible.

Occupational therapy also promotes the use of meaningful occupations (activities important to the individual) to help individuals maintain good mental and physical health. We are passionate about activity – whether that’s resting, working, exercising or socialising. Balance is key!

Social Prescriber

  • Helps people to take control of their health and wellbeing by focussing on their needs and what matters to them
  • Help you if you’re lonely or isolated, struggling with demands of university or work, and if you’re experiencing financial, housing or employment issues
  • Supports people to connect with community services, groups and support schemes
